Don’t ever use the space bar again to put text in the center of your page.

Insert – Picture – Clipart:
Add a flourish to invitations, newsletters, memos…
Resize with black “handles”
Hold shift key to keep proportions
Crop with crop tool and black “handles”
Double click and choose layout to set text wrapping options

Format – Paragraph formatting:
I primarily use this for setting line spacing.
Alignment and indentations can also be set here as well as on the tool bar and ruler.

Format – Columns:
Sometimes you want text to appear in columns. You may want a list of items to appear in columns or you may wish to make text appear in columns to give your document the look of a newspaper or newsletter.

Insert - Sections:
Section breaks are used in documents containing varied layouts:
1) From 1 column to 2
2) Portrait and Landscape pages in same document
3) Different headers/footers from one page to the next


This is where you get control over Word. In here you will find ways to turn-off or modify many of those things the computer tries to do for you – much to your frustrations.
